In most Production Music Libraries you can find songs that have a Full and Reduced version. For those new to the industry it may not be know what the musical difference is between a Full version, or sometimes called the Main Mix, and the Reduced versions of a composition.
Full Version (Main Mix): This is the complete or “Full” original version of the composition or song. This complete version will have all the original instruments and musical parts played in their entirety.
Full Version Alternate Length: This is the complete or “Full” version of the composition or song with the exception of the length of the composition or song may be shorter. For example: The Full Version (Main Mix) may be a 2:30 composition. The Full Version Alternate Length will be the 2:30 composition cut down to one minute or 30 sections. This is done to facilitate producers and editors who are working on 30 and sixty second commercials.
Reduced Version: This is the Full Version minus one or more of the following; main instrument, specific instrument, specific melody or a specific beat. By removing one of the preceding elements from a song it becomes a Reduced Version of it’s original Full Version (Main Mix).
