The iHeartRadio Music Awards aired on Sunday, March 5. Former American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest, hosted and many famous artists were present to perform their songs and present the awards.
The first performance from Katy Perry was an energetic rendition of her latest single, “Chained to the Rhythm” ft. Skip Marley. She also shocked fans with her new, short haircut. She said that she saw Scarlett Johansson sporting the same look and wanted to try it herself. She told Seacrest:
“I had always wanted to do a pixie cut. I saw Scarlett Johansson (at an Oscar party), and she had the same cut and I was like, ‘Dang that’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. I could do that too and maybe look half as good.’”
The Chainsmokers took home four total awards including Best New Artist and Best New Pop Artist. They performed their songs, “Paris” and “Something Just Like This.”
One of the most coveted awards of the evening, the iHeartRadio Innovator Award went to Bruno Mars when he was named the 2017 Innovator of the Year.
Another big moment of the evening was Miley Cyrus introducing her sister, Noah, to the world. The youngest of the Cyrus clan performed her hit single, “Make Me (Cry)” featuring Labrinth. Miley was there sporting a billboard sign saying “I heart Noah Cyus.”
Justin Timberlake’s song, “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” took home the Song of the Year award. He beat out other greats such as Sia, The Chainsmokers, Drake, and Twenty One Pilots.
Big Sean, Ed Sheeran were just some of the performers at the show.
Adele and Justin Bieber won the female and male artist of the year awards respectively. Adele also won Pop Album of the Year with her latest hit, 25.
