A new project aimed at empowering women of color in the music industry is making headlines.

A partnership between Google and Motown Records, the Motown Records Creator Program will allow women to not only create music directly for Motown, but also “aims to identify and fund the next roster of outstanding female content creators, videographers, or creative producers/directors.”

The new program also provides diverse, equitable representation across the media landscape and furthers Google’s mission to “amplify underrepresented voices.”

Along with more opportunities for females to elevate and develop their craft, the initiative will also utilize the “well-deserved resources” of Google and Motown to “create culturally driven innovations that connect globally.”
